  • As a pioneer in the ballast water treatment industry Optimarin has managed to become one of the leading suppliers of systems for environmental treatment of ballast water. The Optimarin Ballast System installed on board the Princess Cruises’ Regal Princess was the first ballast water treatment system on board an operating vessel. Optimarin has since then sold 260 systems and installed 90 of them. The Optimarin Ballast System is based solely on UV and filtration, and does not require any active substances or chemicals in its processes. While keeping in mind that such systems should be environmentally sound, we at Optimarin emphasizes the importance of keeping the OBS simple and flexible for our customers.
